Potential quality failures for offshore IT contracts. :: News

Potential quality failures for offshore IT contracts.

Bold Endeavours Group queries quality control for newest offshore outsource entrants.

Any company dealing with software or web development is being assailed by an astonishing barrage of sellers - the majority of which are new to outsource or offfshore operations.
Derek Mansfield, President of Bold Endeavours Group says the amount of telemarketing calls, emails, Skype contacts are escalating daily.

Mansfield says “All of our team, based on 3 continents and in all disciplines – sales, development, design, are being contacted by increasingly desperate ‘offshore outsource’ companies seeking the ‘Business owner’
The irony is that Bold Endeavours Group is already an offshore outsource - albeit a UK company based near Heathrow with wholly owned subsidiaries in Ukraine, USA and India. “We've been operating IT and web services offshore since 1992 so we know the business and the industry. This apparent explosion of offshore outsource offerings seems to have two drivers. The majority of offshore companies only get parts of projects given to them by the contract holder – so because work is drying up UK developers are keeping more to themselves. Next, uncompetitive UK developers are teaming up with offshore businesses in an effort to become competitive."
Mansfield believes client companies using newer affiliations may come to grief if they are not very careful; looking at the project management and communications systems is of equal importance to developer experience; communication and mis-understandings are the bane of poorly staffed or untried outsource companies.
"When pressed you'll find many of the companies offering such services today are loosely based associates. No problem with that, but loose associations just as easily disappear when a project hits difficulties"
In the downturn the IT budget is a primary area to be savagely cut. Although this generally means new projects are shelved, many companies are still forced to employ the same levels of expensive IT staff to simply maintain systems.
According to UK based Itjobswatch annual in-house salaries for developers are still £35k to £45k and upwards of £68k if day rate contractors are used. Bold Endeavours charging rates are typically half that of in-house staff and two thirds lower than day rate contractors.
With American and English Project Directors in the USA and UK and salaried project staff in Ukraine and India, Bold Endeavours runs outsource maintenance contracts as well as complete projects. Teams are client dedicated and work across most platforms and languages / skill-sets. Typically a trained team would remotely service and maintain networks, software applications or websites. The “follow the sun” global reach and linguistic abilities makes contract servicing simple and direct.
Bold Endeavours also offers online marketing management as an offshore outsource.
